I have waited awhile for this little cousin of mine to show up!! :) we did maternity pics just in time i found out!! 3 days later baby D was here!!

he was a bit fussy, but we did torture him for a long time for such a little guy!  I finally was able to to the hanging baby shot! It was pretty hard work but I'm glad chad and diana decided to let me try!  thanks guys!

*A man*

I was so happy to see that this little guy is a great smilier, you never know with a four year old... don't get me wrong he had that cheesy four year old smile (that looks just like his cousins cheesy smile) but he did really good especially sense its the first time for me to take pictures of this little one!

He was cracking me up, such a funny little kid, we got to play around a little and do a "old fashion" shot with the suitcases and the hat, and of course a shot with his mariners jersey!
We also did a quick maternity picture! and when i asked little  A man if he'd help withe diapers.... no way.. :)

*Name Frame*

I'm posting this for two reasons, to remember my Aunt Verda, who passed just one year ago..
but also to show what you can see if you take the time to stop and look...

*boys will be boys*

i love these 2, they are such.... boys....... full of energy, and just hilarious!! little A has been a challenge through the years but i think this time he warmed up to me.. and big brother K is a pro at the fake smile ;)
they even showed me there "surfer look" with Mohawks and muscle poses to boot!!
Kelcy hope you like your sneak peek!! :)

*Arlee Powwow 2010*

For about every year sense I can remember, Montana powwows have been an annual summer event in my family, all of us kids would pile into the mega van with high ceilings, loaded with sleeping bags, coffee, and cards, my mom with her fanny pack...  The powwow is so soothing to me, the drumming, the singing, the jingling of the many jingle dresses. My mom and step dad would deal black jack which i thought when i was young was all about the money. my sister, brother and I  would serve coffee to players til we could barley keep our eyes open, every drum beat slowly putting us to sleep. Of course who ever lasted the longest got the better tips, which were usually immediately spent, on fry bread, or some toy we could find at the vendors. Now that I'm older I still go and usually my parents still deal black jack, i don't serve the coffee anymore for tips and I've learned that even though its fun to win a few bucks, its even greater to see familiar faces year after year, hear the endless stories, and share in the many many laughs.

i remember when i was just getting into photography my dad and mom showing me slides of dancers at the powwow and thinking how amazing they looked.

I try to take a few every year, just because i guess, to record history,  I don't ever do anything with these images then print a few out for myself, but i think that if anyone can get the same feeling i got from looking at my parents slides then maybe a few more people can experience a Montana powwow..
